The crimping of the terminals is usually operated using a dedicated terminal machine. It has very strict technical standards, including: pull-out force, symmetry, etc.

A crimped terminal can ensure the integrity of the mechanical strength and meet the requirements of the electronic. The following will introduce the terminal crimping defective products that can be identified under normal naked conditions.

If the terminals are not properly crimped onto the cable, you will forget all the hard work you have done to select the correct terminal, although there are common crimp height problems that will reduce the reliability of your product, but only a small amount Knowledge and foresight planning can simply avoid these problems.

Crimp high bottom is too low

The crimp height is the cross-sectional height of the crimping zone after crimping, which is the most important feature of good crimping. The terminal manufacturer has increased the crimp height for each cable size designed for the terminal. The correct crimp height range or tolerance for a given cable may be as small as 0.002'. Under such strict specifications, it is very important to verify that the crimping machine is set correctly for good crimping.

The crimp height of small (Fig. 1) or oversized (Fig. 2) does not provide the specified crimp strength (retention force to the cable terminals), which will reduce the cable pull-out force and rated current, and generally Causes the pressure head to degrade under abnormal operating conditions. Too small a crimp height also breaks the core or breaks the metal of the conductor crimp area.
